(Breaking) PM arrives at Kuantan palace for audience with Agong [NSTTV]

KUANTAN: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has arrived at Istana Abdul Aziz here for an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Muhyiddin, who had earlier chaired a special Cabinet meeting at the Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya, arrived with his motorcade at 4.40pm.

Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang were among those spotted in the convoy entering the palace.

Since there is only one entrance to the palace, members of the media and policemen began gathering at the main door beginning 3pm after it was speculated that Muhyiddin had been granted an audience with the King.

Speculation is rife that Cabinet today agreed to 'prorogue' Parliament, in effect suspending the upcoming Dewan Rakyat session, without dissolving Parliament, with the sitting to resume at the next session.

It is understood that the surge in Covid-19 cases of late led to the decision.

It was widely speculated that the Prime Minister's audience with the King is to seek the latter's consent to do so.
