King, Queen express condolences over Sinar Harian chief editor's passing

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their condolences to the family of veteran journalist and Sinar Harian group chief editor Datuk Baharom Mahusin.

In a statement shared on Istana Negara's Facebook page today, Their Majesties expressed their sadness over Baharom's passing, and hoped that his family would remain patient and resilient during this difficult period.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong expressed his appreciation of the contribution to the community made by Baharom throughout his 28 years experience in journalism.

"The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also described the passing of Baharom as a loss to the journalism industry. Both (Their Majesties) pray that the deceased's soul be showered with blessings from Allah and placed among the righteous and the pious," read the statement.

Born in Kuantan, Baharom was appointed as the chief editor for Sinar Harian in 2019. Prior to his appointment in Sinar Harian, Baharom had served as editor in Kosmo!

Baharom had also once served as London correspondent for Utusan Malaysia.

It was reported that Baharom died at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) at 7.23am today. He was 54.

He will be buried at the Raudthul Sakinah Muslim cemetery in Taman Batu Muda after the Zohor prayers.
