Dr Noor Hisham: 4 new clusters identified today [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: All four new clusters identified as of noon today originated from Peninsular Malaysia, with two clusters emerging from Klang Valley.

The Bintang cluster, logged 75 new cases today, ranking it as among the top three clusters which contributed to the country's highest daily tally today.

Announcing this today, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of active clusters stands at 168, of which 46 clusters recorded new cases today.

"The Bintang cluster involves workers from a construction site at the Lembah Pantai district in Kuala Lumpur.

"The positive cases for this cluster was registered between Nov 17 to Nov 23 through targeted screening in the area.

"As of Nov 23, 95 positive cases have been detected for this cluster, of which only one was a Malaysian citizen and another 94 were foreign nationals," he told reporters, here, today.

The Indah Mas cluster involves the Titiwangsa and Kepong districts in Kuala Lumpur as well as the Petaling district in Selangor.

"The index case (Case-53452) tested positive for Covid-19 through the screening of symptomatic individuals on Nov 21.

"As of Nov 23, 41 individuals have been screened, of which 10 positive cases were detected for this cluster," he said.

Another cluster, Teja Kasih, involving the Kampar and Kinta districts in Perak was detected after the index case (Case-48506) tested positive on Nov 16.

"As of Nov 23, 130 individuals have been screened, of which 41 positive cases were identified," he said.

The fourth cluster, Kobena, involves the Johor Baru district in Johor.

"The index case (Case-52599) which is a Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) reported positive on Nov 20. 111 individuals have been screened as of today, and 13 of them tested positive for Covid-19," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also declared that the Jambul, Surat and Hampar clusters have officially ended.
