Four new Covid-19 workplace clusters emerge [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: Four new Covid-19 clusters were detected today in Sabah, Negri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur and Penang, bringing to 176 the number of clusters nationwide being closely monitored by the Health Ministry.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said three of the clusters are the Puteh Lama Construction Site Cluster with 139 cases, the Jalan Haruan Cluster with 118 cases, and the Jalan Tuaran Cluster with 43 cases.

He said the Jalan Tuaran Cluster, involving Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran districts in Sabah, was detected during the screening of workplaces, with 43 out of 86 individuals testing positive.

The Jalan Haruan Cluster, involving the Seremban district in Negri Sembilan, was detected yesterday (Nov 26) after a screening test on employees at a factory, he said.

"This cluster consists of 10 Malaysians and 108 foreigners. A total of 300 individuals have been screened so far," Dr Noor Hisham said.

The Puteh Lama Construction Site Cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, was detected yesterday (Nov 26) following targetted testing of workers there.

A total of 820 workers at the site have been tested so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said the fourth new cluster – Beringin – involves the districts of Timur Laut, Barat Daya, Seberang Prai Selatan and Seberang Prai Tengah, in Penang.

"The cases in this cluster are workers from two factories, where the index Case 51,576 was reported positive on Nov 19 after a symptomatic individual screening.

"To date, 3,116 individuals have been screened, with 37 workers being found positive," he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said of the 176 clusters nationwide, 47 reported additional cases, including the Teratai Cluster (31), the Damai Laut Cluster (27), the Batu Tujuh Cluster (19) and the Sutera cluster (18).
