MCO: Public agencies offering essential services must be fully-staffed

KUALA LUMPUR: Public agencies offering essential services in areas under the Movement Control Order (MCO) are required to work at full capacity.

Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman said this includes civil servants working in states placed under the Conditional MCO.

Public servants in other sectors, he added, will work at a maximum capacity of 30 per cent.

Civil servants in Perlis and Sarawak, which are states under the Recovery MCO, will work at an optimum attendance.

"To ensure that basic services of agencies are unaffected, continuous and accessible to customers, department heads must determine the attendance capacity needed; while the implementation of the work from home policy should be based on rules and guidelines stipulated in the PP 5/2020 Work From Home Circular.

"This circular is also applicable in states or areas under different control orders, which are announced by the government from time to time.

"It is also applicable to all state public services, statutory bodies, and local governments, subject to acceptance by their respective authorities," he said.

The MCO will come into effect at 12.01am tonight in Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.
