Over 200 low-risk Covid-19 patients treated in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: More than 200 Covid-19 low-risk patients were placed at two Quarantine and Treatment centres in Kelantan.

State health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said 103 of them were housed at the Kota Baru Municipal Council's Silver Jubilee Hall while another 111 were placed at the health ministry's Training Institute.

He said the latest figure involving the low-risk coronavirus patients was as of Saturday.

Dr Zaini said the two were among six centres that would house Covid-19 low-risk patients.

The four other centres are located at the old Kuala Krai hospital, Tumpat Training Centre, Gua Musang Civic Hall and Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah Kelantan (PUTIK).

"At the moment, only two of the centres have started their operations while the others will be opened soon.

"More than 600 beds are provided at the six centres to house low-risk patients," he added.

He said this low-risk patient's mostly close contacts of positive patients, were required to undergo a 10-day quarantine at the centres.

On Covid-19 hospitals, Dr Zaini said a total of 290 patients were currently under treatment at five hospitals statewide designated for the pandemic.

"About 70 per cent of these hospitals were filled with Covid-19 patients," he added.

Kelantan recorded 141 Covid-19 patients yesterday with Kota Baru recording the highest number of cases at 59, followed by Bachok (24) and Gua Musang (14).
