Covid-19 cases dip after Saturday's all-time high

KUALA LUMPUR: After registering the highest ever daily figures at 4,275 Covid-19 cases on Saturday, the daily coronavirus infections detected by the Health Ministry dropped to 3,346 over the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cases brought the total cumulative to 183,801, of which 41,677 are active cases.

Malaysia, he said, also recorded higher number of recoveries at 4,427 compared to new infections as of noon today bringing the total number of Covid-19 recoveries to 141,446.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 950 followed by Sabah at 431 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 390 cases and Johor slightly behind with 378 cases.

"A total of 265 cases are being treated at the Intensive Care Units, of which, 102 cases require breathing assistance," said Dr Noor Hisham who shared the update on the Covid-19 situation in the country, via his official Twitter account.

The country's Covid-19 death toll continues to rise to 678 after 11 more fatalities due to the virus were reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).
