KUALA LUMPUR: No glitches were detected on the first day of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) examinations, despite them being held under the new norm brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin said the holding of the SPM and SVM examination this year was different compared to previous years.
Last year, Radzi announced the postponement of the major annual secondary school examinations due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.
In a series of photos posted on his Facebook account, Radzi is seen visiting SM Saujana Impian in Kajang to inspect the school and check on Standard Operating Procedure compliance during the SPM examination.
"The situation is organised and the examination went smoothly. I pray for the best for students sitting for SPM and SVM 2020," he said.
During the visit, Radzi was accompanied by Examinations Board director of examinations Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali.
Today marks the first day of SPM and SVM nationwide, with students sitting for Bahasa Malaysia Papers 1 and 2 in the morning and afternoon respectively.
SVM for the first semester will run from Feb 22 until Feb 25, while SVM for the second semester will be carried out from March 8 to March 19.
SPM will run until March 25 with 401,105 candidates sitting for the examination nationwide.
