SPM candidate bids final farewell to father outside exam hall

KUALA KANGSAR: It was a sad day for a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Simpang Beluru here as he had to bid his final farewell to his father before entering the exam hall.

Muhammad Haikal Iskandar Zamry was seen crying in front of a hearse carrying his father's remains, parked at the school.

The video and pictures of the 18-year-old student has gone viral on social media after it was shared by his counselling teacher, Badariah Mohd Mohaidin on her Facebook account.

Badariah said the family had to take the body to the school since Haikal was not able to visit his father who was previously warded at the Taiping Hospital as he had to sit for the exam.

"His father died yesterday due to heart problem and diabetes after being warded for about a week at the hospital.

"He went to the hospital yesterday to meet his father for the last time but he was not allowed to enter," she said when contacted today.

Badariah added that the school then allowed him to see his father for the last time here, before his father's remains were laid to rest at the Kampung Tahan Muslim Cemetery, Sauk at 11.30am.

"Haikal had to sit for several papers until afternoon today. He had about 15 minutes to see his father before entering the exam hall before the History paper started at 10am.

"During recess, he didn't take his meals at all and kept crying. We provided a special room for him...," she said.
