Viral RM10k compound while dining issued by govt agency, not cops

KUALA LUMPUR: A couple who claimed they were compounded RM10,000 each while dining in Cheras last week was called to assist in investigations by Bukit Aman yesterday.

They were called in by the Classified Criminal Investigations Department (USJT).

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said initial investigation found that the couple was fined by a team of enforcement officers from a government agency.

"We found that the couple had posted a statement that they were compounded while eating and drinking and that they were disappointed by the action of the enforcement officers which they deemed as illogical apart from the compound being unfair.

"Investigation found that the compound was not issued by the police but by a team of enforcement officers from a government agency," Huzir said when contacted by Berita Harian.

He informed that police have recorded the couple's statements to assist in investigations.

"We will also look at this case further and refer to the Health Ministry on the couple's allegation as they are the authority with regard to the compound," he added.

Earlier, Zachary Yeoh took to Facebook alleging that he had been issued a RM10,000 compound while dining at an eatery with his girlfriend.

He claimed that his girlfriend too was issued with a RM10,000 compound.

On his Instagram, Yeoh said he had scanned his MySejahtera application and had his temperature checked prior to dining in.
