Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship programme offering 12 spots for Master's, PhD programmes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship programme (BYDPA) is offering 12 scholarships for students interested in pursuing Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the 2021 session.

The Public Service Department, in a statement, said the scholarship would be divided equally for Masters and doctorate levels, for studies in science and technology, economics, law, and Islamic finance.

The scholarship application which opens today at 5pm, is applicable for students seeking to further their studies at local or overseas universities approved by PSD according to the courses.

"The application can be made by filling in the form online at the http://esilav2.jpa.gov.my portal.

"The application form and supporting documents must be submitted to PSD representatives by hand or post before or on April 9," the statement read.

It added that priority would be given to candidates who have exceptional skills such as mastery in several languages and are active in extra co-curricular activities or community activities.

"Those who have produced creative and innovative works such as in writing; art design; technology and, others will also be given priority," it said.

Other requirements included outstanding academic results who have secured a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.75 or first class or equivalent at the Degree or Masters level.

"All applicants must be Malaysian citizens and aged below 35 years old on Jan 1, 2021.

"The applicants must have received a full time offer to study or have started their full -time studies in the year of the offer at an institution of higher learning listed by the JPA according to the field of study.

"For Masters level, applicants must be on research mode only which requires the preparation of a research paper or dissertation or thesis," it said.
