1,275 new Covid-19 cases today

KUALA LUMPUR: The country logged 1,275 new Covid-19 infections as of noon today, with Selangor recording the highest number of new cases.

From this, 1,243 cases were locally transmitted while 32 were imported.

Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said in Twitter today the total number of active cases currently stands at 14,296.

More than a third of the new cases were reported in Selangor (478 cases), with 389 cases or more than 80 per cent were detected from active clusters and targeted testing.

Sarawak recorded 213 cases, followed by Penang (137 cases) and Johor (120 cases).

Perlis and Putrajaya recorded two cases each, with three in Terengganu and five in Labuan.

With one death recorded today, the total number of Covid-19 fatalities has now increased to 1,249.

A total of 161 cases are currently being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICU), with 70 requiring breathing assistance.

Meanwhile, 1,509 patients have been discharged, raising the country's recovery tally to 323,925.
