1,482 new Covid-19 cases, seven deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry recorded 1,482 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, raising the total number of infections in the country to 345,500.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are currently 14,604 active cases.

He said 1,480 of the new cases were local infections involving 896 Malaysians and 584 foreigners, while two others were imported involving foreigners.

Selangor, he said, recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases at 661, followed by Penang (200) and Sarawak (176).

"Currently, 164 Covid-19 cases are being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICU), with 81 of them on ventilator support," he said in a Twitter post.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 1,070 new recoveries today, raising the total number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to 329,624 (95.4 per cent).

"Another seven deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 1,272 (0.37 per cent), involving five Malaysians and two foreigners," he said.
