Kelantan opens 5th low-risk Covid-19 quarantine, treatment centre

KOTA BARU: Kelantan's fifth Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) began operations today.

The centre, located in the SMK Salor hostel, began operating at 4pm, catering to male and female students.

The Kelantan Health Department in a Facebook posting said the PKRC, which would eventually be able to accommodate 350 people, is equipped with 168 beds for now.

"The centre will operate in stages. For starters, the state health department has provided 84 beds each for female and male students," said the department.

The department also said that the state's latest Covid-19 cluster, Halban Dua, is among the education-related clusters involving the Kota Baru district.

Covid-19 positive cases from the cluster began on April 18 following screenings on staff and students of an educationial institution in Padang Halban.

As of today, a total of 81 people have been screened, with 63 testing positive for Covid-19.

Kelantan so far has 32 active clusters which include the Kok Lanas, Pulai Chondong, Tembok Bukit Besi dan Tembok Pengkalan Chepa clusters.

As of yesterday, a total of 424 new cases were recorded in the state bringing the cumulative figure to 11,617.
