Only one entry now for vehicles from KL, Kuantan

BENTONG: Following the imposition of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on this town till June 19, police have set up five roadblocks and cordoned off three alternative roads.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said those travelling from Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan, will be stopped at the roadblock mounted at the slip road entering Bentong (east) near the Benus industrial area for inspection.

"The stretch is the only route to travel into Bentong town as we have closed the other roads. The other new roadblock is mounted at Lebu junction along Jalan Raub-Bentong.

"The three existing roadblocks mounted during the MCO 3.0 period are at the Bentong toll plaza towards Kuantan, in front of SMK Bukit Tinggi and Kampung Simpang Durian in Manchis, Karak. All five roadblocks will be manned round the clock throughout the EMCO," he said in a statement today.

Zaiham said the Bentong toll plaza exit (Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway) near the Bentong Mara Junior Science College and Bentong-Kuala Lumpur trunk road(4th mile) has been closed to all vehicles.

"Besides the toll plaza exit, police have cordoned off the road at Benus Jaya and the Kuala Lumpur-Raub-Gua Musang alternative stretch which passes through Kampung Chinta Manis, Mempaga and Simpang Lebu in Bentong.

"Police urge the public to comply with the EMCO standard operating procedures. Policemen will continue to enhance compliance surveillance in the district," he said.

The spike in Covid-19 cases in several localities in the district has resulted in Bentong town being placed under EMCO between June 6 and June 19.
