Student regrets not being able to show her SPM result to her father

BELURAN: Tracylla Lainjih's family buried her father on the day she obtained her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results.

It was an emotional affair. The 18-year-old, who attended SMK Beluran II, knew she had fulfilled her late father's wishes to score 7As for the examination.

Tracylla Lainjih's father died a few days ago due to complications of Parapneumonic effusion (buildup of fluid between the lungs and chest cavity). His remains were laid in a wake prior to the burial today.

"I am happy to get a good result as my father had expected that from me; but at the same time, I am feeling sad as he is not here to see it.

"Last year, he had told me if I did not get straight As, seven As would be good enough," she told the New Straits Times.

The fifth of seven siblings, together with other family members, were shocked by her father's sudden passing a few days ago.

She said her father, Lainjih Anggaloong, 59, had been receiving treatment at a hospital.

"My father, who was a pensioner, never told anyone that he was actually very sick.

"He did show signs of being ill, but when we asked him, he said he was fine," she added.

Despite losing her father, Tracylla said she would move on and pursue her dream to become a doctor.
