Viral SPM grading scale chart not from Malaysian Examinations Syndicate

KUALA LUMPUR: The social media posting on a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) grading scale chart, which has since gone viral on social media is not from the Examinations Syndicate.

The Education Ministry in a statement last night was referring to a social media post by a Facebook account identified as MamaMia Mia.

The user had put up a chart on the SPM grading scale with the caption "Patut aku pelik budak2 sekarang berderet A" (No wonder there are so many students who scored straight As) with the hashtag "#bilasekolahdipolitikkan" (whenschoolsarepoliticised).

"The social media user alluded that the posting is the actual SPM grading scale and this can mislead the people, especially parents and the examination candidates.

"The social media posting had also tarnished the image, authority and credibility of the Examinations Syndicate and threatened public order," the ministry said in the statement.

The ministry added that the Examination Syndicate had lodged reports at 10.30pm yesterday with the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the social media posting.
