KUALA LUMPUR: The number of Covid-19 active cases is showing a decline after recording more recoveries from the coronavirus infection than new cases in the past week.
As of today, the number of active cases dipped to 71,625 infections nationwide, compared to 73,324 cases yesterday.
Based on the latest data from Health Ministry, Malaysia logged 6,588 recoveries in the past 24 hours compared to 4,949 new cases.
Out of the figure, 4,943 patients are via local infections while six cases are imported.
However, the number of Covid-19 cases in the intensive care units (ICU) nationwide showed an increase from 917 to 921 cases today while patients requiring breathing assistance also increased from 452 to 459 cases.
The coronavirus claimed the lives of another 60 individuals today, taking the total fatalities to date to 3,968.
