Pas Youth calls for extension of food delivery hours

KOTA BHARU: Pas Youth has urged the government to extend e-hailing and delivery operation hours for food operators from 6am to 10pm daily.

Its deputy chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said there has been a decline in Covid-19 cases as well as an increase in the number of patients recovering from the virus recently.

Currently, eateries were only allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm during the full movement control order (FMCO).

"During the FMCO, people especially those working full-time find it difficult to order food for breakfast or dinner due to the limited operating hours.

"Food operators and hawkers are also affected as a result of the implementation of this time limit," he said in a statement.

Ahmad Fadhi said the extension of the operation hours would assist restaurant operators and hawkers gain more income and address the issue of food orders.

He said the short operating hours for eateries also caused fear and anxiety among the people.

"The people see this as though the government has no solution to end the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

"The extension of restaurant operations will be able to ease anxiety as well as reduce stress among the people.

"It is time for the people's worries and fears to be eased slowly, and ensure they can enjoy life better," he said.
