Pemulih: RM500 cash aid for the disabled for three months

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (Pemulih) will provide assistance to persons with disabilities (PwD) who are unemployed or have lost their jobs.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the government has agreed to provide RM500 in aid per person for three months.

The financial aid will also cover PwDs who are not current recipients of the Disabled Workers Allowance.

"A total of RM30 million has been allocated for this purpose which will benefit 20,000 PwD," he said when unveiling the Pemulih aid package today.

The prime minister said the government would also implement the Program Jaringan Inisiatif Umum (Jitu) to provide basic business capital assistance and guide the PwD and the homeless in starting a business.

He said RM20 million has been allocated for this purpose, and is expected to benefit more than 40,000 people.
