Join 100-Hour Voluntary Service Mission, Youth wings of all political parties told

GEORGE TOWN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Armada (Youth) has urged the Youth wings of all political parties to join forces to offer free voluntary services through the '100-Hour Voluntary Service Mission'.

Armada (Bersatu Youth) chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said they had mobilised the mission to assist frontliners at the vaccination centres (PPV) across the country, who needed additional volunteers to help the government expedite the Covid-19 vaccination process.

He said the participation of volunteers among politicians, who are constantly on the ground with the people, made it easier for them to offer services to the people.

"I urge the Youth wings of all political parties, such as Umno dan DAP, to volunteer their services. This mission goes beyond political boundaries. If more people help, then we can achieve 'herd immunity' faster.

"We need volunteers among politicians as they are often with the people and they know who has been vaccinated and who has not," he told newsmen after a visit to the PPV at Spice Arena in Bayan Baru here today.

Armada (Bersatu Youth) is targeting 5,000 of its members to participate in the 100-Hour Voluntary Service Mission to assist frontliners at PPVs across the country.

Each participant will serve for 100 hours each over a period of one month under the mission which began on June 7.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, said the number of absentees for vaccination was still high, including in Kuala Lumpur.

"If we do not go knocking on the doors of the people to help them to check their MySejahtera app or even help them to register for the vaccine, the government's effort to achieve 'herd immunity' will be slow.

On another matter, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said, as of June 30, a total of 105,743 individuals had registered for the Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers (MyVAC) programme nationwide.

He said a total 5,302 MyVAC volunteers have been placed at PPVs while another 9,819 volunteers are waiting to be placed.
