Fire rips through Tanjung Aru water village [NSTTV]

KOTA KINABALU: About 10 houses in Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru were destroyed in a fire this morning.

In the 7am incident, the fire was believed to have started from one of the houses before it spread to others.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson Mohd Affendy K Ramin said they received a call at 7.08am and sent personnel from the Kota Kinabalu and Penampang stations within five minutes.

"Upon arrival, the fire had spread and destroyed 10 wooden houses at the water village.

"The firemen, who were also assisted by villagers, managed to control the fire from spreading further," he said when contacted, adding the fire was brought under control at 7.58am.

No injuries nor casualties were reported and the cause of fire is still being investigated.

It is learned that on May 25, 25 houses at the village also destroyed in a fire.
