KUALA LUMPUR: As the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) in Klang continue to rise, its staff members are taking the challenge in their stride and continue to persevere.
Faced with a limited number of beds for patients and other issues, the hospital management took drastic measures including modifying several areas and using them as temporary wards.
These measures were taken after taking into consideration the spike in Covid-19 cases at its Emergency and Trauma Department, said the hospital management in a statement.
"Trainee doctor hostels and daily treatment complexes have been converted for the purpose of treating Covid-19 patients.
"They started accepting patients from 8pm on July 9," it said, adding that the move was adopted after a risk assessment was done.
HTAR, in thanking its staff, said they were the real heroes who were quick in finding solutions when there were no available beds for new Covid-19 patients.
With Covid-19 cases in Selangor steadily breaching the 4,000 mark, it signalled a dire situation, as the spike in daily cases referred to the Emergency Department had caused a shortage of beds for patients.
"Without the strong commitment and support from HTAR staff, this initiative would not be realised," it added.
