Special officer to Deputy Minister dies from Covid-19 complications

KUALA LUMPUR: The special officer to the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister has died from complications stemming from Covid-19 infection today.

According to a social media posting which was shared by Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff on her official Facebook account, R Kumutha died at the Putrajaya Hospital near here this afternoon.

Kumutha, who is also the Pas' Supporters Club women's wing chief, was 42. She was admitted to the hospital on June 30 after testing positive for the virus. She was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit after her health deteriorated.

"She was a good person and committed towards her work, always there to assist the needy and she was also good at handling and resolving issues faced among the people who sought help at our office.

"Even during her final days, she was still handling complaints from the people.

"Her death is a big loss to us all and we pray that her families be granted the strength and patience to face such situation," said Siti Zailah, who is also the Rantau Panjang member of Parliament, in the posting.
