KOTA KINABALU: All public parks in the state capital will be closed temporarily, said Kota Kinabalu Mayor Noorliza Awang Alip.
"The city hall will postpone the reopening of all public parks in the city with immediate effect.
"The decision is made following the worrying spike of Covid-19 cases in the city," she said in a statement.
Today, the state recorded 647 Covid-19 cases, which is doubled from yesterday's figure at 326.
Kota Kinabalu itself has 312 cases with 204 from Kepayan Prison cluster.
On July 13, the city hall had allowed Taman Tun Fuad Stephens and Taman Ujana Rimba to open with limited capacity and time.
Among activities allowed between 6am and 6pm at both parks include jogging and 10-people group exercises.
Earlier at 8am, the local authority had also issued a statement on the reopening of Taman Teluk Likas starting tomorrow which has a bigger capacity of 200 pax for two hours at a time.
