Assemblyman claims received complaint about food supply problems at Serdang Hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman has complained about food supply problems at the Serdang Hospital of late.

Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah said a Covid-19 patient's wife claimed her husband, who has been at the hospital for four days has not gotten breakfast since the first day.

"Aside from that, lunch and dinner also came late. Lunch was served between 1.30pm and 2pm while dinner was served between 8.30pm and 9pm. Yesterday's dinner was only a packet of char kuay teow.

"Imagine how physically and mentally stressed they are due to the situation... they can only eat in the late afternoon. Covid-19 patients need sufficient food and nutrition to fight the virus," he said in a statement today.

He said such an incident should not have happened, especially at a hospital.

"The complainant is very concerned about the condition of her family members who are in the hospital and not getting good care. Hospital services are declining. This is due to the lack of capacity and staff.

"The federal government's failure to plan a long-term strategy to handle the Covid-19 outbreak has caused hospitals in the Klang Valley to operate beyond capacity thus affecting the efficiency and quality of treatment."
