Muhyiddin seeks bipartisan support ahead of confidence motion

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has made a call to rally a bipartisan support on the heels of a confidence motion expected to be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat next month.

During a live address to the nation today, Muhyiddin said his government was planning a framework of understanding between all parties in order to establish a stable and inclusive government.

Among his suggestions under the framework include allocation of RM300,000 to all members of parliament to purchase food baskets, increasing the ceiling value of Covid-19 Fund to RM110 billion to beef up the healthcare system and rolling out cash assistance worth of RM10 billion to 11 million recipients.

If he secures a two-third majority in the Parliament, Muhyiddin also promised to propose a new bill which would set a two-term limit for the prime minister post as well as a bill on anti party-hopping laws.

Muhyiddin said the confidence motion would be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat soon and assured that he will take the "honourable path" in accordance to the Constitution as per the outcome of the confidence motion.
