MQA gives due appreciation to Cyberjaya cops

SEPANG: The sacrifices and contributions of the police as frontliners in fighting crime as well as the Covid-19 pandemic were given recognition by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) today, with the handing over of food packs, vouchers and hygiene kits to personnel of the Cyberjaya police station.

MQA chief executive officer, Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran did the honours by making the presentation to station chief Assistant Superintendent Sheikh Roslee Sheikh Mohd Norrani on behalf of his 89-strong force at the latter's office.

Mohammad Shatar said the initiative was a sign of gratitude from MQA for the enormous services of the police in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic, especially for the community around Cyberjaya.

He said the frontliners were the most vulnerable to the risk of the virus but remained steadfast in their efforts to break the chain of transmission.

"This CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity is a symbol of our gratitude to frontline staff like them, who have served well since the Movement Control Order was carried out in March last year.

"Besides that, it is hoped that through this CSR activity, we will be able to further disseminate information on the role and function of MQA among the community," he said.

Also present at the brief ceremony were Cyberjaya station deputy chief Sergeant-Major Suhaimi Sutin and MQA public and international affairs unit head Muhammad Hasfarizal Kamaludin.

In response, Sheikh Roslee expressed his gratitude to government agencies like MQA that appreciated the services and sacrifices of the force.

He added the community needed to appreciate the true meaning of #kitajagakita and understand the duties and responsibilities of frontline workers in maintaining the well-being of the people in this country.

"Give your cooperation and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government, especially in matters concerning crossing district and state lines.

"This will help reduce the number of new cases because those who fail to do so will face immediate action.

"Do not complain later when compounded, saying the police were being inconsiderate. This is not to persecute offenders but for the sake of carrying out the task to break the Covid-19 chain of transmission.

"This is important because we do not know who the virus carrier is," he said.
