More than 100 policemen from Aksem placed under GOF beginning Oct 1

KOTA BARU: More than 100 policemen, previously under the Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem), will be placed under the General Operations Force (GOF) beginning Oct 1.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Hasan Basri Ahmad Safar said these policemen would be deployed to handle three roadblocks in the state.

He said the deployment of the former Aksem members was made following the restructuring of the agency into the police force.

"Following the restructuring, the policemen from Aksem will be moved to GOF's eighth battalion.

"They will be manning the roadblocks in Lalang Pepuyu, Cabang Empat Salam and Neting," he added.

Hasan said all the assets previously belonging to Aksem would also be used by GOF.

"From the quarters to Aksem's vehicles as well as its offices at the three Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complexes in Rantau Panjang, Pengkalan Kubor and Bukit Bunga will be used by GOF," he said.

It was reported earlier that Aksem which was established on Dec 29, 2017, was now placed under the police and the tasks entrusted to the Internal Security and Public Order Department of the GOF.

The Cabinet, on March 12 had agreed with the proposed rationalisation of Aksem through a restructuring exercise for it to be placed under PDRM.
