TMJ to meet MB, Health Director over reports of vaccine shortage

JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has called the Menteri Besar and the state Health Director for an audience to discuss the issue of vaccine shortage in the state.

This was revealed by Tunku Ismail in a posting on his Facebook page.

"I have decreed for Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad, State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and Johor Health Director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu to have an audience today (Monday).

"I will also be in touch with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin regarding a report I received on the shortage of vaccines and cancellation of vaccination appointments.

"I will also raise the issue regarding the Educity PPV and vaccination programme for factory workers in tomorrow's meeting," said Tunku Ismail.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob ordered the vaccination rate in six states to be increased so 50 per cent of the population in these states would be vaccinated by the end of September.

The six states are Terengganu, Perak, Johor, Kelantan, Kedah and Sabah.

For the record, only 46.1 per cent of the population in Johor have received both doses of the vaccine while 76.3 per cent have received at least one dose.
