Mandatory vaccination for all civil servants, says PSD

KUALA LUMPUR: It is mandatory for all civil servants to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or risk disciplinary action, said the Public Services Department (PSD).

In a statement, the department said almost 98 per cent of civil servants have already been vaccinated.

"However, there is still 1.6 per cent who have yet to register for the vaccine.

"All federal public services officers are required to immediately complete their vaccination before Nov 1," it said.

During the period, civil servants who have yet to receive their Covid-19 vaccine must walk-in to any government vaccination centre (PPV).

"For officers who cannot be vaccinated due to health reasons, they must submit their health information verified by a government medical officer to their Heads of Department.

The statement said if a public officer is still not vaccinated after the given period without a valid exemption, then the officer may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

The decision was made in line with efforts to restore government services to full operational levels based on the phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

"The mandatory vaccination for all civil servants will provide confidence and assurance to the public and ensure the smooth delivery of services," it said.
