No quarantine for fully vaccinated persons entering Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: There will be no quarantine requirement for fully vaccinated persons entering Sabah except those coming from abroad, effective tomorrow.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the compulsory quarantine has been dropped except for individuals who have not completed their vaccinations, symptomatic individuals detected during screening at the checkpoint and those arriving from overseas.

"However, each individual who wishes to enter Sabah needs to get police permission to cross state borders and show a negative result of Covid-19 screening conducted by a clinic or laboratory.

"The RTK-Ag Covid-19 test result is only valid for one day, while the RT-PCR test is three days before travel to Sabah, apart from filling the eHealth Declaration Form," he said in a statement today.

He said this regarding the latest updated Sabah National Security Council (NSC) standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Masidi said the new SOP also stated that children under 12 years and individuals aged 70 above were not encouraged to be in any business premises or public facilities except for medical, education, emergency, and exercise purposes.

Previously, children under 12 were not allowed to enter any business premises, he said.

Today, Sabah recorded 805 new infections, a slight increase after a downward trend over the past few days.

Masidi said all districts in the state are red zones, but none of the districts recorded three figures.

"This increase is because 18 districts recorded an increase, while only eight districts registered a decrease. Ranau recorded the highest number of cases today with 87, an increase of 46," he said.

Masidi added that out of 805 cases, 611 cases or 75.9 per cent occurred during the past 24 hours, while the rest were backlogged cases.

"Close contact cases are still the major contributor for Covid-19 cases in the state, accounting for 54.16 per cent or 436 cases.

"It can be concluded that it is highly likely that non-compliance of the SOP is occurring despite various calls and recommendations by the state government," he said.

As of yesterday, 66.9 per cent of the Sabah's adult population were fully vaccinated.
