'He was playing the keyboard before he suddenly froze' [NSTTV]

IPOH: Film director Mohamad Mohd Khalid or better known as Mamat Khalid was playing "Apokalips" on the keyboard before he suddenly "froze".

This prompted his son, Mohd Khalid Amen Mohamad, 25, and family members who were at the Sarang Art Hub Cafè in Tanjung Malim at the time to approach the director.

Mohd Khalid Amen said that prior to the incident, his father did not complain of having any pain but he suddenly went stiff while playing the keyboard.

"He was playing the keyboard to the Apokalips song, one of his favourite songs in front of our family members.

"We immediately approached him when he suddenly went silent. He did not complain of having any pains at the time.

"We immediately called for an ambulance and papa breathed his last in the vehicle, on the way to the hospital. Papa has been suffering from heart disease," he said when met at his home in Taman Hillview, here.

Mohd Khaled Amen said that his father was scheduled to start filming "Kampung Pisang Berbuah Dua Kali" next week.

"Papa was planning to start filming at the end of this month, but he is gone too soon," he said.

Mamat was pronounced dead at 12.30am earlier this morning while on his way to the Slim River Hospital.

He is also the brother of famous cartoonist, Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid, or better known as Lat.

He leaves behind his wife, Hasmah Hassan and five children; Mohd Khalid Amen, Mohd Khalid Adam, Mohd Khalid Zaffa, Sara and Nurhassanah.

Funeral prayers will be held at the Jamek Idris Iskandar Shah Mosque in Sungai Rokam and his body will be laid to rest at the Kampung Paloh Muslim Cemetery.
