Pas unhappy with Cabinet's decision on Timah

IPOH: Pas strongly opposes the decision by the Cabinet to allow the whisky brand Timah to keep its name, its vice-president Idris Ahmad said.

"Pas stance is very clear on this issue. We do not agree to whatever name used whether it's Timah, Dolah, Wahab...we strongly oppose it.

"No one from the party supports the whisky brand Timah," he told reporters after visiting Azidi Sudin, 53, a recipient of 'Inspirasiku MyHAUS Program' at his home in Kampung Sri Aman, Menglembu here.

Asked on his stance as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) on the matter, Idris refused to comment.

"Whatever has been decided by the Cabinet, I don't have to expose here. But so far, Pas is very clear with its stance.

"So no one would say Pas' members are living under the rocks when it comes to this (whisky) issue. We are very clear on this," he said.

It was reported yesterday that Cabinet has agreed to allow homegrown Timah whiskey to maintain its name.
