ICU occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients at 62.9 per cent

KUALA LUMPUR: The occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients at intensive care units nationwide was at 62.9 per cent as of 11.59pm yesterday, while 506 active cases were recorded.

Data on the Health Ministry's CovidNow portal revealed that ICU utilisation in the Klang Valley declined slightly to 78.9 per cent with 125 active cases compared to Tuesday's 81.3 per cent with 127 cases.

Selangor has the highest utilisation rate at 80.3 per cent with 86 active cases.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with 76.3 per cent with 31 active cases; and 80 per cent with eight active cases respectively.

In Sarawak, it is at 48.2 per cent (52 cases), Terengganu at 67.8 per cent (27), Labuan at 41.7 per cent (two), Johor at 54.4 per cent (36), Kedah at 42.5 per cent (27), Kelantan at 73.6 per cent (37), Melaka at 68.5 per cent (20), Negri Sembilan at 63.2 per cent (16), Pahang at 41.5 per cent (18), Perak at 68.1 per cent (42), Perlis at 47.4 per cent (3), Penang at 74.2 per cent (31) and Sabah at 67.8 per cent (70).

There are 270 Covid-19 active cases using ventilators nationwide where the utilisation rate was marked at 37.3 per cent.

Perak recorded the highest ventilator usage at 55.1 per cent with 23 active cases, followed by Terengganu at 46.2 per cent (19) and Kedah at 45.2 per cent (eight).

In the Klang Valley, there are 72 active cases (29.7 per cent) using ventilators. In Selangor, there are 50 active cases (29.2 per cent), 15 (29.5 per cent) in Kuala Lumpur and seven (37.8 per cent) in Putrajaya.

There are 236 active cases that are unventilated.

There were 37 deaths recorded yesterday, including nine which were brought in dead cases. This brings the nation's total fatalities to 30,147.

Terengganu registered the highest death toll at seven followed by Sabah and Negri Sembilan with five each and four in Selangor and Kelantan respectively.

There are three deaths in Johor, two each in Kedah and Pahang, three in Perak, one in Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur respectively.

No deaths were reported in Melaka, Perlis, Penang, Labuan and Putrajaya.

To date, there are 25,049,738 fully vaccinated people and 657,241 who are partially inoculated.

There are 7,317,045 people who have not been immunised against Covid-19.

At present, 55,705 people are under home quarantine while 7,584 are placed at the Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres.
