Women's Ministry ready to provide counselling to parents of Perak bully victim

KOTA BARU: The government is ready to provide counselling to the parents of a student who was bullied in Perak recently.

Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said the ministry would provide the assistance if needed by the victim's family.

"In this issue, the ministry will work with other relevant ministries and in this case, although it involves schoolchildren, the victims are still children.

"There are counsellors in schools and the ministry, through the Welfare Department also provides counselling session to parents facing this kind of predicament.

"The ministry welcomes the parents if they need our counselling," she told reporters after launching the state-level entrepreneur courses under the "MyKasih Kapital" programme here today.

Also present was State Welfare, Family and Women Development committee chairman Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi.

On Friday, several students of a boarding school were seen punching and kicking a fellow student in several video clips lasting between 13 and 30 seconds which went viral on social media.

The MRSM Disciplinary Committee yesterday expelled 10 students identified to be involved in the incident.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) director-general Datuk Azhar Abdul Manaf in a statement said the committee had studied the case thoroughly and decided to expel the students effective yesterday.
