KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry detected nearly 500 new Delta variant Covid-19 cases within the space of five days, from Monday to today.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all 486 of the cases detected were from Delta variant, with no Omicron variant cases reported.
"A total of 6,246 VOC and 20 Variant of Interest (VOI) have been detected in the country. Out of the VOC cases, 5,726 are from Delta, 253 Omicron, 233 Beta, and 14 Alpha," he said in a statement today.
For VOI cases, he said 13 were from Theta variant, four Kappa, and three Eta.
