Tiger threats: SK Balar will remain closed

GUA MUSANG: SK Balar will remain closed as tigers continue to roam the area.

The school compound has been empty since five days ago, when 100 of its students, apart from teachers and staff members were told to return home after a tiger was spotted outside its fence on Jan 10.

"They were told by the district education office to return home due to the threat. The school has been closed since then," said a source.

It is learnt that the school authority was still waiting for the district education office's instruction.

The presence of the tiger which was recorded by a teacher has caused fear among the students, staff and the Orang Asli community in the area.

The Kelantan Wildlife Department is monitoring the area and has installed three traps, each equipped with a camera.
