KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a Twitter post this afternoon informed that he had been to the National Heart Institute (IJN) to visit former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Ismail Sabri was earlier seen by members of the press spending about 30 minutes at the hospital.
It is understood that Dr Mahathir is currently admitted at the hospital's Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
"Arrived at IJN just now to visit former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is admitted at IJN.
"I also met with Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali here at IJN and I wish Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's family will continue to stay strong," he said.
The tweet was accompanied with a photo of Ismail Sabri speaking to Dr Siti Hasmah and Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
At 5.30pm, Ismail Sabri arrived in a white Toyota Vellfire accompanied by a motorcade.
Earlier today, IJN said that it would issue a statement on Dr Mahathir's condition soon.
