KUALA LUMPUR: The Omicron wave has begun and daily Covid-19 cases in the country will continue to rise, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
However, Khairy said the variant spread was under control because of the country's high vaccination rate.
"The healthcare system has been put on standby. Serious cases are declining. Let's defeat this wave together. (Wear) face masks," he posted on Twitter.
Khairy also included hashtags #TRIIS (trace, report, isolate, inform and search) and #PICKids (National Immunisation Programme for Children) in the post.
He said this in a respose to the tweet by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Hisham Abdullah on the latest update on Covid-19 cases in the country as of noon.
The country recorded 4,744 new positive cases today, bringing the total number of cases to 2,844,969 cases.
