Cracks seen at Seri Kembangan site a day after landslide

KUALA LUMPUR: New cracks and damages have been sighted at the site of the Lestari Perdana, Bandar Putra Permai's landslide barely 24 hours since the incident on Tuesday.

Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner A. Anbalangan said enforcement agencies including the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) were aware of the cracks and damages that were spotted on Wednesday.

He said repairs on the site in Seri Kembangan, near here were actively underway.

"I was informed that 50 iron pylons measuring 150m were embedded in the area yesterday. The embedding process is still ongoing and will take seven days to ensure there is no soil movement and cracks in other areas.

"We would like to advise the 17 owners of commercial premises in the area to vacate their respective shops until the situation is safe," he said when met by reporters after opening the 17th Ops Selamat for Chinese New Year at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza heading south, here, today.

Anbalagan informed that the MBSJ Engineering Department was monitoring the situation after Tuesday's incident.

Firefighters received information on the incident at about 6.30pm on Tuesday before rushing to the location. They found five vehicles damaged due to the landslide.

However, no one was killed or injured in the incident.

On vehicles damaged due to the landslide, Anbalagan said the owners of the affected vehicles could lodge a police report for insurance claims and compensation.

"So far, we have not received any report from the parties involved. We have been informed that the cars that have been damaged belong to customers of a workshop at the location.

"If the cars have insurance, they can lodge a police report for follow-up action. There is no problem," he said.

The incident was caught on camera, showing an apocalyptic depiction of cracks along the road which then led to a massive landslide, taking down vehicles parked there.
