Slight drop in national Covid-19 infectivity rate

KUALA LUMPUR: The national infectivity rate (Rt) dropped slightly to 1.49 on Saturday.

Based on data shared by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on his Twitter, Labuan remained the state with the highest Rt yesterday at 2.14.

This is followed by Sarawak at 1.67 and Sabah at 1.66.

The Rt in other states were Perlis at 1.47; Penang at 1.46; Johor at 1.40; Pahang at 1.38; Selangor and Kelantan at 1.37; Kedah and Terengganu at 1.35; Putrajaya at 1.34; Negri Sembilan at 1.31; Melaka at 1.28; Perak at 1.27; Kuala Lumpur at 1.22.

The national Rt was at 1.51 on Feb 10 and Feb 11.

As 22,802 new infections and 5,442 recoveries were reported on Saturday, active cases now stood at 140,336.

Data on CovidNow showed that 91.2 per cent or 127,984 patients are observing home quarantine, 4.5 per cent or 6,254 cases are at the Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC), 4.2 per cent or 5,922 are receiving treatment at hospitals, and 0.2 per cent or 176 are at intensive care units (ICU).

15 Covid-19 deaths were recorded yesterday including five brought-in-dead (BID) cases, taking the toll to 32,114. The five BID cases were two in Johor and one each in Kedah, Kelantan and Sabah.

Currently, 66 per cent of hospital beds are being used with daily admissions at 1,747; while 63.3 per cent of PKRC beds are occupied, 53.9 per cent of ICU beds and 36 per cent of ventilators are being utilised with 98 patients ventilated.
