BAGAN DATUK: A man was killed when fire broke out at an office near a fishing jetty in Jalan Tepi Sungai, Hutan Melintang, here, today.
Eng Ching Hoe, 43, who suffered serious burn injuries to his body was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical staff.
Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Department chief Zulkafle Abdullah said the department was alerted to the fire incident at 7.26am.
Zulkafle said upon arrival, firemen found a small part of the office structure on fire.
"Members of the public had put out the blaze by using domestic water hose reels.
"The victim was found in the office and later confirmed dead by the medical staff," he said, adding that the body was handed over to the police for further action.
