PN slapped with RM1,000 compound for SOP breach

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) was slapped with a RM1,000 compound for violating standard operations procedures (SOP) during the launch of the coalition's election machinery for the Johor polls in Kota Tinggi, Johor, yesterday.

The event was deemed to have violated SOP provisions as contained in the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

The compound notice offer stated that the organiser of the event which took place at Padang Awam, Taman Pasak Indah, Kota Tinggi was found to have failed to control the physical distancing among visitors at the event.

The compound issued according to Section 25 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 was handed over to the Kota Tinggi Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Division Secretary, Mohd Faizam Mohd Sebalas.

MoH when contacted by BH confirmed the compound issuance through the Inspector and Legal Unit of the Kota Tinggi District Health Office had issued the compound.

On Feb 13, Barisan Nasional (BN) Treasurer -General Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein; Johor Umno Liaison Chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad as well as MIC President Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran were compounded during the launch of the Johor MIC Brigade at EduCity Kota Iskandar, Johor.

The compound was issued for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) for not adhering to physical distancing during a gathering.
