RANTAU PANJANG: Six General Operations Force (GOF) posts here were inundated by floodwaters after Sungai Golok broke its banks yesterday.
GOF Southeast Brigade commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Hasan Basri Ahmad Safar said the posts; Pos Terusan, Pos Salleh Berek, Pos Pak Atah, Pos Serongga, Pos Kana and Pos Ibrahim Pencen were all located in Rantau Panjang.
He added that the posts were inundated by between 0.4m and 0.5m of floodwaters.
"They were among 17 GOF posts which located along the Kelantan-Thai border.
"Following this, 27 GOF members had to be evacuated to our tactical base in Taman Bakti.
"While the rest were told to remain at their respective posts and prepare to move out if the situation persists," he added.
Hasan Basri said the floodwaters would not deter GOF members from executing their duty.
"The GOF members have been ordered to conduct their surveillance through the flooded areas using four-wheel-drive vehicles," he said.
