People with disabilities urged to take advantage of home vaccination programme

KUALA LUMPUR: Persons with disabilities (PwD) have been advised to get better protected against the Covid-19 virus by utilising ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd's home vaccination programme.

In a statement today, ProtectHealth said the initiative, held in collaboration with health-related non-governmental organisations, had started in June last year.

"ProtectHealth would like to advise everyone including PwDs to get better self-protection against the virus by obtaining their booster dose vaccine, especially with the start of the Ramadan, by utilising this existing programme.

"Apart from this home vaccination programme, in order to meet the vaccination needs of PwDs, ProtectHealth has been simultaneously conducting other programmes such as vaccination via drive-through vaccination centres, outreach programmes for PwDs and always ensuring that the vaccination centres under ProtectHealth are PwD-friendly."

Its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Anas Alam Faizli said these programmes were initially introduced to increase the accessibility, and maximise vaccinations for groups such as the bedridden, the homeless, stateless foreigners, indigenous people, and the rural population to ensure that no one was left behind.

"In addition, these programmes are still being carried out to ensure that everyone is vaccinated and receive their booster jabs.

"ProtectHealth plays a vital role to create fair and equitable health care facilities for all," he said.

ProtectHealth said the home vaccination service was a government initiative to expand the coverage and expedite booster dose vaccinations.

This was also an effort to increase inoculation rates before the full vaccination privileges were withdrawn from vaccine recipients who do not obtain the booster dose by March 31, 2022 and to protect vulnerable PwD groups.

It said those who were interested could register through three methods, either calling the National Hotline for home vaccination at 1-700-811-007 daily (9am to 5pm); registration via the ProtectHealth website (https://vaksincovid.protecthealth.com.my/register_vaccinee); or via the MySejahtera app helpdesk.
