Roti D'Tandoor and Prihatin's iftar for Down Syndrome kids

KUALA LUMPUR: Two organisations brought some cheer to 20 Down Syndrome children who were feted to a Ramadan iftar (breaking of fast).

The D'Tandoor Network Group of companies and Yayasan Prihatin National hosted the children to a sumptous feast at the Roti D'Tandoor restaurant in Jalan Damai, Ampang.

Guest-of-honour was Prof Emiritus Tan Sri Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, who joined the children and 80 guests.

Present were D'Tandoor Group managing director Datuk Abdul Malik Abdullah, its general manager Abdul Amir Abdul Malik, Prihatin chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Aizuddin Mohd Ghazali and Yayasan Kasih Kanser dan Kronik president Norhana Abu Bakar.

Malik said that the event was hosted during the holy month of Ramadan with the less fortunate as a sign of gratitude and also to share happiness with them.

He added that he teamed up with Prihatin as it was a welfare organisation established to provide various assistance to the poor and underprivileged.

"Prihatin is especially focused towards the young to provide them a better life, by way of three main thrusts namely education, entrepreneurship and leadership.

"Prihatin has also been a key driver in helping the government to make an extraordinary impact in implementing community-based programmes throughout the country," said Malik.

He added that his company always had a heart for the down trodden and wished to offer them some cheer as a sign of gratitude to society.

"We have gone through various challenges to arrive at this historic moment.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Allah and our loyal customers who have contributed to our success.

"Not to forget are my staff who worked hard to make D'Tandoor's operation a success," said Malik, adding that D'Tandoor made a name for itself as the first North Indian cuisine franchisor in Malaysia.
