2,017 new Covid-19 cases yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged another 2,017 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

This brings the cumulative count to 4,483,295 with 29,971 active cases throughout the country.

A total of 28,679 patients, or 95.7 per cent of the total active Covid-19 cases are undergoing home quarantine, and 19 people are being treated at Low Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

A total of 1,235 patients are hospitalised, 38 are receiving treatment at intensive care units (ICU) with 20 requiring breathing assistance.

A total of 2,548 more Covid-19 patients have recovered yesterday.

Covid-19 claimed the lives of seven more people with three brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Three deaths were recorded in Penang while there were one each in Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Perlis.

The death toll now stands at 35,630 since the pandemic began two years ago.

Meanwhile, over 40 per cent of children aged five to 11 have taken their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.

According to the CovidNow website, 1,653,491 children or 46.6 per cent of the group have received the first dose.

A total 30.4 per cent or 1,079,745 of children have completed their vaccine doses so far.

Overall, 70,722,028 vaccine doses have been administered and 26,958,363 people have completed their vaccinations.

A total 16,071,981 booster doses have been administered to adults so far.
