SMK TTDI PTA, resident association wants 'Ustaz Ahmad' transfer to be rescinded [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (SMK TTDI) Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and residents are fuming over the sudden transfer of a teacher from the school.

The PTA chairman Zafarulaly Abdul Mazeed said that the said teacher Ahmad Farazila Abdul Ghani, 55 years old, also fondly known by the locals as Ustaz Ahmad, only has less than four years before his retirement. He has been serving as a teacher at the school for the past 30 years.

He said that the sudden transfer of the teacher, who was previously the co-curriculum senior assistant of the school, has placed unnecessary pressure and stress as he was ordered to report to the new school within days of getting his notice.

"He was informed of his transfer on April 1 and on April 4, when schools reopened, he was ordered to report for duty at the new school.

"This is unnecessary and disappointing (action) from the education department's end as they did not consider his situation before transferring him.

"We appeal to the Kuala Lumpur Education Department to consider reinstating him back at our school," he said during a peaceful protest here today.

Zafarulaly said the PTA has appealed to the Education Department, but they have yet to receive any response.

He said they would appeal to Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin on the matter.

"Ustaz Ahmad could be one of the many cases where teachers are being transferred and moved without any consideration and valid reasons.

"This act is akin to bullying teachers," he added.

Ustaz Ahmad is the founder of Kadet Remaja Sekolah (KRS) in the country and played a key role in the achievement of the school's sports activities.

In addition, he has also organised religious activities for students in the school aside from teaching Pengajian Islam subject.

Kampung Sungai Penchala Residents Association adviser Datuk Abul Hassan Mohd Rashid said that he had never come across such a committed teacher.

"He gave his heart and soul to the school. There were days when he slept at school, to do activities for our children.

"Now his former students have grown up, and their children now are studying there.

"He is not only important for the school but also for the community," he added.
