Higher number of Covid-19 recoveries compared to infections

KUALA LUMPUR: A higher number of Covid-19 recoveries were recorded yesterday with 1,935 compared to 1,325 new infections.

To date, 4,445,611 individuals have recovered from Covid-19 since the pandemic hit the country two years ago.

The new cases on Monday showed a slight increase compared to Sunday (May 29) with 1,155. The new infections brought the total cumulative cases to 4,505,059.

Of the total new cases reported yesterday, 1,323 were local transmissions and two were imported.

The Health Ministry CovidNow portal said the number of active cases now stood at 23,779.

Of the active cases, 22,778 or 95.8 per cent are placed under home quarantine and 15 individuals are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

A total 954 individuals are hospitalised and 32 warded at intensive care units with 15 needing ventilator assistance.

As of yesterday, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest daily coronavirus infections at 611 and 218 respectively.

Malaysia recorded four deaths yesterday, of which one case was brought-in-dead. The new fatalities brought the country's death toll to 35,669.
